All of our depots are run by a management team. Many of them started their careers as bus drivers and have been promoted to management. Managers run our operating and engineering parts of the business. We also have people who support the depots with admin and everything that’s needed to help our buses to run.

We offer some brilliant opportunities for Early Years careers, with structured training and the chance to learn about our industry.

Graduates

Our graduate scheme offers graduates the chance to work their way around the business, working on placements in different teams to learn about Arriva as a whole. During the programme, graduates may get the chance to attend international events and training modules, work on tasks with other graduates and meet Arriva’s senior leaders. They’ll get coaching, career support and have their own mentor who will track their development.

Our Mechanics and Engineers play an essential part in keeping our thousands of buses on the road and making sure our customers get where they need to be.

We employ apprentices, trainees and experienced mechanics and give everyone all the training they need to do a brilliant job and have a great career here.

At Arriva we have in-house Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved training centres where you’ll find our own Instructors and Examiners who help our trainee drivers get their PCV licence. Many of them used to be drivers themselves, so they’re the perfect people for the job.

Based out of our regional offices around the UK, our support roles are the people behind the scenes who keep the business running smoothly. From Finance to HR, Purchasing to Risk, the teams help us deliver the best possible service to our customers.

We’re looking for people with expertise in:

Our cleaners, fuelers and shunters help to keep our buses running, making sure they are fuelled, clean and where they need to be ready for the next day.  They also help to keep the depot and yard clean.

‍

Our Shift Charge Hands work across the different depot teams to make sure everyone is following Department of Transport Standards (VOSA) and company maintenance standards and procedures. The role is a combination of administration and problem solving.

‍

Our Assistant Engineering Managers are responsible for running the engineering part of each depot. This includes managing the engineering team and making sure our buses are maintained to all legal standards and health and safety requirements.

‍

Our Engineering Managers work with the depot’s General Manager and the company’s Engineering Director. They are responsible for keeping all of the depot’s buses clean, fuelled and running.

‍

Our operations managers support our general managers and work closely with the rest of the team to help the depot run smoothly and safely. They make sure everything is compliant with regulations and that the depot is meeting all its targets.

They are responsible for hiring and managing bus drivers and controlling costs, plus representing the company at meetings and with key stakeholders.

Our general managers keep their local area on track to make sure customers get the best possible service.

They work with local networks and communities to make sure that Arriva is seen as the Mobility Partner of Choice. They are great team leaders and create an environment where people enjoy coming to work and all work together to deliver a safe and profitable service.
